92 brave the weather for Peel Golf am-am

by isleofman.com 21st February 2011

ONCE again the weather dawned wet and grey at Peel at the weekend and many of the early starters did not get out of bed. Despite this 92 players still made the start.

A 2 from 4 Stableford AM AM was the format and with a number of temporary greens and short tees the scoring was likely to be low - and so it proved.

In third place were regular winners John Hay, Jim York, Fintan Suddards and young Jim York with 96 points. Juan Quayle, John Cassidy, Chris Corkill and Peter Kingett amassed 97 points, their only failure being on the 11th where they could only muster 3 points.

The winners with a huge 98 points were the team of Graham Shaw, Steven Caley, Peter Easthope and Cliffy Dunn. They had a golden run of 7, 8 and 7 points on holes 14,15 and 16 with three gross birdies and one gross eagle in that spell.

This week we are playing an individual Stableford. Let us hope the monsoons do not continue!

Subs are now well overdue. Remember if you have not paid you may not play in competitions and if payment is not received by 28 February you may have to re-apply for membership if you wish to continue as a member.

Finally, if you use a buggy please ring before coming to the club as the course is now very wet and currently buggies are not allowed.
