AN ATTEMPT to find out the true cost of the roadworks scheme on Richmond Hill will be made in the House of Keys tomorrow.
Onchan MHK Peter Karran - one of a number of politicians who have been long-term critics of the scheme - has tabled four questions about the cost of the project which appears to have been finished recently.
He will be asking Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne about whether the £3.1 million pound scheme has been completed within the original budget or if there has been an over-run in cost.
Mr Karran will also ask further questions about pension liabilities incurred by the staff directly or indirectly involved in the project and what is the real cost to the taxpayer.
The original date set for completion of the scheme was December 4th 2010 but repairs to a water main and the exceptionally cold weather in November and early December led to delays.
The scheme was eventually finished towards the end of January. However, there appears to be a problem with drainage at the bottom of the hill, which caused flooding over the weekend. Police advised that up to six inches of standing water was found on the road surface on Saturday.
