SIMPLE yet vital actions that people can take to end extreme poverty will be discussed at the launch of a global poverty project in March.
The One World Centre is coordinating the Isle of Man launch of the project "1.4 billion reasons" which is organised by The Global Poverty Project.
Simon Moss, The Global Poverty Project co-founder, will visit the Island to speak about the 1.4 billion who are living on less than $1.25 a day.
Rather than asking for donations the project aims to inspire responsibility and positive action within an individual. It explains how everyday actions – what we learn, say, buy, give and do – can be connected to the ending of extreme poverty.
Simon will also speak to all sixth formers in the Islands secondary schools, King Williams College and the Isle of Man College during his time in the Isle of Man.
The event will take place at The Manx Museum on Tuesday, March 1, at 7.30pm. It is free to attend but tickets need to be collected from either the museum or The One World Centre.
It is being held in association with the Manx Co-operative and has been arranged to coincide with Fairtrade Fortnight – which this year marks the Island’s third year as a fairtrade island.
