Vote on postal strike under way

by isleofman.com 18th February 2011

Post Office staff in the Isle of Man should all have received their ballot papers for potential strike action by the end of today (Friday).

More than 250 workers are being asked to cast their votes on whether to start industrial action over an ongoing pay dispute.

The Communication Workers' Union claims its members are due a pay rise because Isle of Man Post has made a profit, while management is insisting the public sector pay freeze applies to its workers.

CWU assistant secretary Terry Pullinger says there is much frustration over the situation (play audio file):

Postal staff have until March 16 to cast their votes.
