Institute of Directors comments on Budget

by isleofman.com 17th February 2011

THE Institute of Directors in the Isle of Man has said it welcomes the news in Treasury Minister Anne Craine's Budget that the rebalancing of the Manx economy is ahead of expectations.

A statement from the IoD said: "Spending has been reduced to some extent but there is still a lot to do.

"The fact that we have not followed the UK in increasing National Insurance contributions will be welcomed by employers on the Island and will no doubt assist in continuing our lower rates of unemployment to those of our neighbours.

"It was interesting to hear Mrs Craine reveal a co-operative approach with Jersey in relation to the Zero-10 and ARI issues.

"It is hoped that the uncertainty of the past year or so can now be put behind us and we can move forward on a level playing field in dealing with our neighbours."
