Minister 'bemused' by commissioners' stance

The Infrastructure Minister says he's 'bemused' by Onchan Commissioners' decision not to part-fund an extension of the kerbside collection trial.

Currently paid for by the Department of Infrastructure, funding of the scheme for an extra six months was due to be provided by the local authorities taking part; Douglas, Braddan and Onchan.

But Onchan this week decided not to go ahead with it, with chairman of the commissioners Brian Stowell claiming there was not enough proof the initiative was cutting CO2 emissions to any meaningful level.

Infrastructure minister Phil Gawne doesn't believe that is the case:
