A leading environmental group says arguments put forward by Onchan Commissioners as justification for scrapping kerbside collections of waste don't stand up to scrutiny.
The local authority has been taking part in a three year, government funded trial scheme, but has decided not to continue on the grounds recycling costs too much and there is insufficient evidence it does any good.
Isle of Man Friends of the Earth spokesman Phil Corlett isn't impressed, and says his organisation's submission to the board in favour of the project, appears to have been overlooked:
