Big setback for kerbside collecting

Onchan Commissioners are scrapping kerbside recycling in the district because it isn't environmentally friendly enough to be worthwhile.

At this week's board meeting they voted to axe the second pilot scheme which has been running in the area.

Onchan had been trialling the three-year government scheme along with Douglas and Braddan.

Chairman Brian Stowell says his board may now explore other options, such as having more sites for people to drop off their recyclable items:
