New session for musicians who want to play traditional music

by isleofman.com 16th February 2011

A NEW traditional music session for people who want to try out Manx music starts from Friday (February 18).

It is for musicians who already know how to play an instrument and want to learn Manx session tunes at a steadier pace rather than being plunged into the 'lightning speeds' of established sessions.

It will take place at the Tynwald Inn, St John's, on Fridays from 6.45pm to 8pm.

Initially designed for a six-week period, the session is a way to learn some of the core tunes in a relaxed atmosphere.

The Phynnodderee music session will take place after it at 8.30pm.

For further details contact Manx Heritage Foundation Manx music development officer Breesha Maddrell on 695784 or mhfmusic@mhf.org.im or just turn up on the night.
