Island to say goodbye to Snaefell?

by isleofman.com 16th February 2011

The Steam Packet has put one of its fleet up for sale on the internet.

The Snaefell was taken out of service last month, with the loss of 29 seasonal jobs.

It's now being advertised on the Mondial Broker site for an undisclosed price.

The fast craft was removed from the company's operational fleet, in the face of increased freight competition from rival Mezeron.

Last week Mezeron said its daily container service between Douglas and Liverpool would end on February 19.

Since then the passenger group TravelWatch has expressed the hope the Packet will invest more in its services, now the Island's so-called 'freight war' is over.
