Manx Budget is "mildly surprising" says ILS boss

by isleofman.com 15th February 2011

CHRIS Eaton, chief executive of the ILS Group, has described the Manx Budget as "mildly surprising, but in a pleasing way".

Mr Eaton said: "The stronger than expected performance in reducing government spend demonstrates the benefit of an economy which continues to grow and create jobs.

"I would encourage the government to continue its current course and retain the courage of its convictions in any difficult times ahead.

"The data regarding the number of government posts lost is interesting, but I would like to see how the numbers of overall headcount have altered over the past year or two.

"The statement on ARI (attribution regime for individuals) is bold and to be welcomed and will hopefully buy the Island's business community a period of certainty and stability as far as taxation policy is concerned."
