More union pressure against job losses

Members of Tynwald arriving at the legislative buildings for the 2011 budget will face a crowd of demonstrators from the union Unite.

The union says it wants to keep up the pressure on politicians as the spectre of redundancies looms large, particularly at the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure.

Minister David Cretney has said 22 people might have to be laid off over the next two years, but regional industrial organiser for the union Steve Salter says talks with the department have been going well.

He also says the union's campaign is not a vendetta against the minister or his department:
