Five-year plan gives 'sense of direction'

by isleofman.com 15th February 2011

Treasury Minister Anne Craine says she's grateful the Manx government has taken a strategic view of its finances in recent years.

Mrs Craine is due to make her first budget speech in Tynwald this morning (Tuesday), and does so as the Isle of Man's VAT black hole starts making itself felt in government cuts.

She says the five-year plan the government is working to informed her decisions as she prepared for the budget (play audio file):

Mrs Craine's budget speech, and the entire budget debate, will be broadcast live on Manx Radio's AM 1368 frequency, from just after 10.30am today. The budget will be followed by the rest of the February sitting of Tynwald, with question time expected at 10.30am tomorrow.

John Moss and Roger Watterson and a panel of guests will assess the measures contained in the 2011 Isle of Man budget in the Baker Tilly Budget Special, on AM 1368 from 1pm to 2pm today.
