A LARGE field competed in a singles Stableford event on Saturday. Despite Biblical deluges over the last week the course was in good nick with wet fairways on 1 and 18 and a temp on 4.
The weather was warm with very little wind and when I started I thought the scoring might be good. The scoring was exceptional. Simon Whewell (12) was 6th on 41 points. Town Cup holder Mark Holt (10) was 5th with 41. 42 points was only good enough for Graham Shaw (15) to take 4th place.
Simon Marshall (42) was 3rd on countback with 42 points. John Kelly (9) was 2nd with a fantastic 44 points. Young Kieran Conroy (15) was the winner with an outrageous 45 points.
Spare a thought for Phil Christian (4) who had a super 68 gross and 41 points but was still out of the prizes. This Saturday the competition will be a 2 from 4 am am.
Players are reminded to please complete and sign their cards correctly. There have been a few disqualifications the last couple of weeks so take extra care.
