Services for air crash victims

by isleofman.com 14th February 2011

The six victims of last week's Manx2 plane crash at Cork Airport have been remembered at a special service.

It was held at the Church of the Assumption in Ballyphehane, the airport's home parish, and those in attendance included politicians clergymen, rescue services personnel and airline officials.

The Belfast Telegraph reported that the church 'erupted in applause' when tributes were paid to the emergency services without whom, the congregation was told, more than six lives would have been lost.

The six people died when a commuter flight from Belfast crashed on its third attempt to land in thick fog.

Funeral services for two of the victims, both from Northern Ireland, are being held today (Monday).
