Watchdog hopes Packet can 'up its game'

An independent travel watchdog hopes the Steam Packet will invest more in its services now the Island's 'freight war' is over.

Last week, Mezeron announced its daily container service between Douglas and Liverpool would end on February 19.

The Steam Packet had blamed the competition for falling revenues, which led to it withdrawing the Snaefell from service and cutting 29 seasonal jobs.

Chairman of TravelWatch Brendan O'Friel hopes the company will consider upping its game now the battle with Mezeron is over:
