Two workers at the Western Civic Amenity site say they have been dismissed because they are over 65.
Mike Callin and firstly Brian Caley told John Moss no other other good reason had been given by management at the site for them not having their contracts renewed (audio file attached):
Despite one of the men being 71 and the other nearly 67, therefore already being allowed to work beyond that discretionary retirement age, chairman of the site Eric Beale said he was just following policy, before admitting it was a cost-cutting measure.
