THE Bishop of Sodor and Man has expressed his sadness after a Manx2.com flight crashed in Ireland earlier today.

Right Reverend Robert Paterson said: "In the Isle of Man we depend on the service provided by companies like Manx2.com and our thoughts are with not only the passengers affected and their families, but also with the pilots, staff and management of the airline.

"The Diocese of Sodor and Man has a close link with the churches of the Diocese of Cashel and Ossery in Southern Ireland and, with them, we will keep everyone affected in our prayers."

Three people have been confirmed dead after the plane which was carrying 10 passengers and two crew crashed while trying to land at Cork Airport just before 10am this morning. It had left Belfast Airport at 7.50am.

A Cork County Council spokesman said four people are unaccounted for, two people have been seriously injured and one person is considered walking wounded.
