Three people confirmed dead after Manx2.com flight crashes

THREE people have been killed after a Manx2.com flight crashed at Cork Airport earlier this morning.

 

The plane which was carrying 10 passengers and two crew crashed on landing shortly before 10am after departing from Belfast.

 

There are unconfirmed reports that six people in total have been killed.

 

Tom O'Sullivan from Cork County Council told BBC news that some passengers were still unaccounted for.

 

He said: "The major emergency plan has been activated. Three fatalities have been removed, there were two seriously injured and one walking wounded.

 

"Two survivors are still trapped and there are four unaccounted for. I understand the aircraft overturned on landing and caught fire."

 

Eight fire units are on scene and the fire has now been extinguished.

 

The Irish Aviation Authority has said that the flight - NM7100 a metroliner SW4  - attempted to land three times.
