A MANX2.com plane has crashed at Cork Airport killing several people.
The plane was travelling from Belfast to Cork when it crashed on landing just before 10am this morning.
The Irish Aviation Authority has said that the flight - NM7100 a metroliner SW4 - which was carrying 10 passengers and two crew, attempted to land three times.
A statement released by the Irish Aviation Authority said: "The aircraft made an approach to runway 17 in low visibility conditions (Category 2) and went around and did not land and attempted a second landing on Runway 35.
"The aircraft then went around a second time and came back for an approach to Runway 17. On the second approach to Runway 17 the aircraft crashed adjacent to Taxiway C.
"Rescue and Fire crew are in attendance. There is a fire and debris has been scattered onto the runway and over a wide area.
"The accident will be investigated by the Air Accident Unit of the Department of Transport."
The BBC has reported that "several people" have been killed.
Cork Airport has been closed. All flights have been diverted to Shannon Airport. A statement on the airport's website said: "An incoming Manx2 aircraft crashed on the airfield on approach to landing shortly. Fire crews are on the scene and Cork Airport's emergency plan has been activated."
Manx2.com is an Isle of Man based company employing 60 staff and has a fleet of seven aircraft. The company carries 100,000 passengers a year to a number of UK destinations.
