Cav outgunned on stage two in Qatar

by isleofman.com 9th February 2011

A heavily bandaged Mark Cavendish and his HTC Highroad team were outgunned in a bunch sprint finish to stage two of the Tour of Qatar.

A heavy cross-wind led to a somewhat disorganised end to the 135km stage.

Team Sky were the only one to form a train but this disintegrated over the final two kilometres.

Cav was towards the front but finished outside the top ten in 12th place - the stage was won by Heinrich Hausler of Garmin-Cervelo.

Quick Step rider Tom Boonen remains as the overall leader by just one second ahead of Hausler.

The Manx Missile is in 87th place some 13 minutes and 47 seconds behind.
