CARERS are wanted for new study

by isleofman.com 8th December 2010

Carers are being encouraged to help inform groundbreaking new research which focuses on their experiences. Crossroads Caring for Carers Isle of Man are compiling the most in-depth study yet of the conditions faced by carers on the Island and how they feel about their responsibilities and the government resources available to them.

Crossroads hopes the findings of the project will shed new light on a scenario which a quarter of the population are expected to face at some time, and provide better guidelines for using limited public funds effectively. To make sure the research is reliable and representative, Crossroads are looking to recruit as many carers as possible to take part in a short questionnaire and interview session either at its headquarters in Derby Square, Douglas, or a location convenient to the carer. The aim of the study is to investigate the perspectives and needs of family and informal carers in order to describe and understand their specific experiences. It will also develop an evidence base to improve care services and effectively direct Isle of Man Government sources of funding to benefit the economy as a whole.

To express interest in taking part in the study, contact Alex Wilson at Crossroads on 673103 or email awilson@crossroadsiom.org.
