by isleofman.com 7th February 2011

THE Ben my Chree is being inspected for damage after it was hit by a strong gust of wind while docking in Heysham this afternoon.

As a result the rest of today's sailings have been affected.

A spokesperson for the Steam Packet Company said: "While berthing in Heysham this afternoon the Ben my Chree was hit by a strong gust of wind and experienced a heavier landing than usual.

"As a responsible operator and as a precaution we are carrying out an inspection of the vessel.

"A marine surveyor is en-route to the Ben my Chree to carry out a precautionary inspection. It is anticipated that this will be completed by 4.30pm."

The 2.15pm sailing from Heysham to Douglas is delayed until at least 4.45pm when a further announcement is expected to be made.
