by isleofman.com 7th February 2011

A £1,400 donation has been made towards the cost of the rescue helicopter at the Southern 100 International Road Races.

The money was raised through sales of the 2011 calendar produced by the RoadRacingSupporters.com website.

Administrators of the popular website Kevin Collier, Andy Findlay and Stu Baker travelled to the Island to present the cheque to the Southern 100 organisers at the Old Market Inn, Douglas.

George Peach of Southern 100 Racing thanked the three visitors and said: "The rescue helicopter is an essential service that all involved with the July races hope remains grounded, but it is comforting to know that if it is required it is available and it is generous donations such as this from the Road Racing Supporters website through the sales of their excellent calendar that we are able to ensure that the rescue helicopter is available at Billown."

Kevin Collier said: "We are more than happy to be associated with the Southern 100 Road Races and in particular the rescue helicopter.

"We are already planning the calendar for 2012 which hopefully will be available in mid September. Full details will be on our website www.roadracingsupporters.com as well as the Southern 100 website www.southern100.com"
