A FEMALE was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation and then taken to Noble's Hospital for further checks following a flat fire in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).
It happened at 1.35am in Kensington Avenue, Douglas.
On arrival two firefighters from the first appliance at the scene entered the heavily smoke logged property wearing breathing apparatus.
Using a high pressure hose reel the team ensured the fire, which was confined to the lounge area, was extinguished.
There was minor damage to some furnishings and fittings.
Crews used a positive pressure fan to ventilate the rooms.
The fire is not thought to be suspicious and the cause is under investigation. Apart from the female casualty no other injuries were reported.
Station Officer John Kelly said fire precautions in this type of property are regulated in the Island under The Fire Precautions (Flats) Regulations 1996.
