Island hosting British Championship event

by isleofman.com 5th February 2011

The opening round of the British Sidecar Trials Championship is taking place in the Isle of Man today.

It starts from St John's at 8.30am with the first sections at Corlett's sand quarry.

A number of plantations are being used, including Arrasey, South Barrule, Archallaghan, King's Forest and Slieau Whallian, along with Ellerslie and the South Barrule and Old Stoney Mountain quarries.

In Football, it's FA Cup first round day, with holders St George's making the shortest trip possible to Division Two neighbours.

In Rugby, Vagabonds are away to Wigan in South Lancashire and Cheshire Division One, while Douglas and Ramsey are at home in Division Two against Dukinfield and Warrington respectively.

In Hockey, the second week of the mixed season sees Premier League champions Bacchas A, who were far from convincing winning their opening game last Saturday, up against their own B team.
