Laxey landmark looking good again

As regeneration is considered in Laxey, a well known building in the centre of the village is nearing the end of a major refurbishment.

The Working Men's Institute was virtually derelict when the project began four years ago.

Since then volunteers have been hard at work, using donations from local businesses, lottery and conservation grants, and anonymous contributions from individuals.

Richard Henthorn has been involved since the outset and says he's delighted such an important building has been saved from demolition:
