RESIDENTS will be able to fly directly to Anglesey from the Isle of Man again this summer.
Manx2.com is launching a season of flights to the destination from Wednesday, June 1, and flights will depart twice a week on a Monday and Friday until September. There will also be an extra service on a Wednesday from July 22.
The announcement comes after Manx2.com recently won a four year contract to operate flights between Anglesey and Cardiff. The contract was awarded by the Welsh Assembly Government after Manx2.com successfully operated the route for seven months last year.
Noel Hayes, chairman of Manx2.com, said: "We had great feedback on the short season we operated last year and so are delighted to again be able to offer passengers a unique opportunity to visit Anglesey this year for over three months.
"This summer season special is perfect for those who are keen to experience all North Wales has to offer - whether it be for a weekend break or the chance to reconnect with friends and relatives.
"We were greatly encouraged by the support of RAF Valley, Isle of Anglesey County Council and all our Welsh contacts and look forward to continuing to bring the Manx2.com formula so successfully to Wales for 2011."
Ieuan Wyn Jones, Deputy First Minister and Minister for Economy and Transport for Wales said: "The return of this link over the summer months is good news for tourism in North Wales and is good news for the airport itself and I'm sure it will be welcomed by many.
"North Wales has a great deal to offer visitors, as does the Isle of Man, and I'm pleased to see that this Manx2.com commercial flight will operate again this year."
Clive McGregor, leader of the Isle of Anglesey County Council, said: "I'm pleased Manx2 has decided to run this service again. It proved to be very popular last year and it means that we can get to know our Celtic neighbours on the Isle of Man a bit better as well as potentially bringing more visitors to us here on Anglesey."
Anglesey is surrounded by 125 miles of coastline and a host of historical sites whilst the North Wales Borderlands is dominated by the spectacular Clwydian hills. Fares start from £39 each way.
