Squash news from the Isle of Man

by isleofman.com 4th February 2011

THE latest squash results from the Isle of Man:

A League: Monday, January 31

Deloitte (117) v MAS (135)
Edgewater B (135) v Stone Art (121)

Edgewater B's win over Stone Art lifts them to the top of the A league and Deloitte move to second despite losing to MAS who are one point behind in third.

Edgewater B have had a good run of results lately and were looking for another win against Stone Art.

Douglas Jacobsson was first on court and had a good win in a close encounter against Allister Crossley.

Chris Corrigan had a 3-1 win against his coach Les Callow who did well to get the second game 15-14.

Kevin Watterson looked on for an easy win after his first game but Lyndon Cheetham came back twice to level the game and set up a thrilling finish. As expected it went all the way with “Flash” Watterson taking the win 15-14 with a killer dropshot.

Chris Cave, for Deloitte, had a close game against Hamish Thornton while Liam Quinn had a similarly close encounter against Ian Kelly.

Peter Fergusson needed five games to beat Nathan Quilliam in another closely contested match to give MAS a clean sweep on the night.

B League: Tuesday, January 25

BRW Racketeers (214) v Body & Mind (165)

Jewel Tech (199) v Island Exhaust (202)

Onchan Outcasts (210) v All About Gardens (188)

BRW Racketeers claimed their first ever league victory. After 18 months of trying, and a near miss in last week's test match against the club's academy squad, the Racketeers brought their 100 percent losing streak to an end against fellow B league battlers Body & Mind.

These three, along with Motorvation G, will make up league D as the B league splits into three leagues after the first round of matches.

Jewel Tech and Alloms Jewellers Juniors are guaranteed places in the post-split B league. There they should be joined by Apollo Consulting who are playing two matches this week to fulfil their first round programme.

Who will join them will depend on the outcome of outstanding results with Onchan Outcasts, Island Exhaust and International Divers.

All About Gardens will be in the C league along with Alliance & Leicester International Lions although the latter still have a mathematical chance of making the B league.

League tables will be automatically updated as results are posted and can be view at www.iomsra.com
