Offshores critic considers PAG invitation

by isleofman.com 3rd February 2011

One of the leading critics of the offshore financial centres is deciding whether to take up an invitation to speak in the Isle of Man.

Writing on his blog, Richard Murphy says he first heard of a proposed invitation through Manx Radio.

He says he was 'a little suprised' to read on the station's website that he was being invited to a meeting of the Positive Action Group.

A vote was taken at Monday evening's PAG meeting as to whether Mr Murphy should be asked if he would like to address a meeting, and the majority of those present said 'yes'.

Mr Murphy, whose taxresearch.org.uk website is often highly critical of offshore financial centres, including the Isle of Man, says he now has an official inviatation and is considering it.
