Minister facing difficult decisions

Community, Culture and Leisure Minister David Cretney says he has looked at every aspect of his department as he tries to slash its budget by five per cent.

Government spending cuts means the department needs to save ?900,000 this year, a figure which means 22 workers at Banks Circus may be laid off.

Mr Cretney says he is against making job cuts except as a last resort, but the alternative might be to close some of the Island's visitor facilities and tourist attractions:
