Railway posts already scrapped, claims MHK

North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson thinks the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure may be laying off workers unnecessarily.

This morning (Tuesday) in the House of Keys, he quizzed minister David Cretney about 22 proposed redundancies among railway workers.

The potential job losses, which are being discussed by management, staff and unions, would primarily affect craftsmen such as blacksmiths and coach painters.

Despite the consultation, Mr Henderson believes the decision has already been made to axe the posts:
