PEEL residents face seven weeks of disruption when road works start on Monday (February 7).
The Department of Infrastructure said the works on Derby Road - between Albany Road and the Shoprite car park entrance - will consist of the full reconstruction of the road and the partial reconstruction of both pavements.
But due to the narrow width of the road the work will be carried out under a road closure which will last for seven weeks.
While this work is being carried out Manx Gas will also be renewing the gas main.
There will be a diversion route for motorists via Church Street, Peveril Road and Ballaquane Road.
Pedestrians will still be able to use a footway through the works area and residents will have pedestrian access to their properties.
Access to Shoprite and the Peel Medical Centre will be maintained at all times from the north section of Derby Road and work on the road immediately outside the Medical Centre will only start once the Medical Centre has been relocated to new premises in Westlands.
It will also be possible to access Shoprite car park via Derby Drive and motorists are asked to proceed very carefully along this busy residential route.
Buses will still be serving the estates off the Poortown Road but will also be using the diversion route along Ballaquane Road.
Some parking spaces around this junction have been suspended to accommodate the additional bus traffic turning into and out off Ballaquane Road from Peveril Road.
The department said it is aware of the road condition between Shoprite and the roundabout at Reayrt ny Cronk, but will programme the work to fit better with school holidays as it will be going across the front of the Peel Clothworkers' School.
A spokesman said: "The department apologises for any inconvenience caused during these works but hopes road and footway users will see a significant improvement along Derby Road once the works are complete."
