Man suffered fatal injuries in fall

by isleofman.com 31st January 2011

An inquest has heard a 64-year-old man died when he fell down the stairs at his home in Douglas.

Evidence showed Michael John Daugherty, of Wesley Terrace, was found unconscious at the bottom of the staircase, in October.

He was taken to Noble's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A post mortem examination showed he died as a result of multiple injuries, which he received in the fall.

Coroner of inquests Alastair Montgomerie recorded a verdict of accidental death.

Mr Montgomerie said although Mr Daugherty struggled with alcohol problems, drink hadn't contributed to what he called 'a tragic accident'.
