A man who escaped from custody while a prisoner at Jurby has appeared before the deputy high bailiff.

Twenty-three-year-old Steven Jonathan Corkill, whose address was given as care of the prison, admitted the offence, which was committed in Westmoreland Road, Douglas on December 10.

He also admitted damaging a pair of handcuffs, the property of security firm G4S, and using threatening, abusive and insulting words or behaviour in the presence of two prison officers.

His advocate asked for the facts to be reserved and a social report prepared.
