Glenfaba MHK David Anderson has confirmed he will be defending his seat in the general election in September.

Mr Anderson was first elected to the House of Keys ten years ago and initially served in the former DHSS with responsibility for health, before becoming minister for education in 2004. He has been health minister since the departments of the Manx government were organised last April.

Mr Anderson says he continues to believe that far more can be achieved by working within government influencing policy, than by criticising from the outside.

He is married with two grown up children and lives at Ballamoar Farm in Patrick.

Mr Anderson is again being challenged by businessman Geoffrey Boot who polled just over 40 per cent of the vote in a two-horse race for the Glenfaba seat five years ago.

Both men declared their intention to stand at the weekend.

The 2011 general election is on Thursday, September 29, with nominations day on August 30.
