POLICE have reassured the public that there is no wider threat after a man was arrested following a serious sexual offence in the south of the Island.
The 23 year old man from Port Erin was arrested on Saturday, January 29, at around 2.15am.
He has been charged with offences of rape, indecent assault and committing acts against public justice.
He was due to appear in court this morning.
Detective Sergeant Andy Pailor of the Public Protection Unit Investigation Team said: "A woman reported that she had been the victim of a serious sexual assault which had occurred at the hands of a man she had met earlier that evening.
"The offence took place at the man's home address which the police have treated as a crime scene.
"The assault took place in private and no other person was involved and the public can be reassured that there is no wider threat."
