Love in the air at Valentine's market

by isleofman.com 31st January 2011

LOVE will be in the air in Port St Mary next week at a special Valentine's market.

The market will take place on The Quay and is a new addition to the events calendar. It replaces the annual Christmas market which was cancelled in December due to bad weather.

More than 12 local producers will be selling a range of food and drink and there will be live music from local band Truman Falls.

Local fare for sale will include fresh fish and seafood from Paddy's including oysters - a well documented aphrodisiac - and dressed lobster.

A range of organic vegetables grown in Manx soil, cheeses and charcuterie from around the world and fresh herbs, sauces and preserves will be on sale.

Cupcakes, handmade chocolates and flowers will also be available for those perfect last minute Valentine's Day gifts.

Hungry shoppers will be able to tuck into crepes, home made soup, a hog roast, garlic prawns and garlic mushrooms.

Tim Croft from Paddy's said: "We hope the public will come down to The Quay on Friday from 6pm onwards where they can indulge themselves, enjoy delicious food to go and savour the scents and tastes of the season.

"It's also an opportunity for the local children to finally get the chance to show off the lanterns they made for the Christmas market with a parade through the village."

Paddy's Valentine's Market takes place on Friday, February 11, from 6pm. Admission is free.
