D&D and Ronaldsway produce shocks

by isleofman.com 30th January 2011

Douglas and District are the toast of JCK Division Two after a shock win on Saturday.

The bottom club thrashed Marown 7-2 to move off the foot of the table, ironically, at the expense of Ronaldsway, who also produced a surprise by holding fifth placed Pulrose to a 1-1 draw.

Ricky Grant (three), Daniel Stewart (two), Ben Skelton and Paul Craig were on target as D&D enjoyed a day to remember.

Kevin Druggan and Juan Killip scored for Marown.

At Groves Road, Pulrose led through Barry English but the Rockets earned an impressive point through Liam Crawley.

Runaway leaders St John’s still have a 100 per cent record but were given their biggest test of the season by Onchan.

A Mark Wolfenden goal settled the encounter at Mullen-e-Cloie.

Union Mills pulled three points clear in second place with a 12-2 thrashing of Malew.

A Kyle Uren hat-trick, doubles from Steven Quine, Ryan Kelly, Chris Wilson and one apiece from Gareth Logan, Daniel Shuttleworth and Tony McKee ensured a memorable day for the Millers and a miserable day for Malew.

Ben Gregson and Andy Wenman were their scorers.

Ramsey Youth Centre moved level with Colby in third place after a 5-2 win against the southerners.

Alistair Shimmin (two), Connell Hughes, Mark Faragher and Daniel Tate fired the northerners to victory.

Matty Wilshaw scored both for Colby as the sides shared four goals in an even first half.

There was a 3-3 thriller as Braddan and Foxdale drew.

Lee Ramsden, Geoff Murphy and James Cain scored for the home side with Robbie Jack and John Kelly (two) on target for Foxdale.
