Vagabonds lose out at home

by isleofman.com 29th January 2011

Poor discipline cost Vagabonds dearly as they went down 21-15 at home to Winnington Park in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One.

The visitors played much of the game with 14 men after flanker Phil Parrott was sent off for foul play.

Vagas took the early initiative when Ross McCulloch intercepted and went in from 50 metres.

Jonny Beckley converted the try and Vagas were sitting pretty.

The visitors hit back when they were awarded a penalty try which Ben Elliott converted.

Beckley put Vagas back in front though with a penalty which left them leading 10-7 at the break.

A Will Armstrong try put Winnington Park in front early in the second half and Elliott stretched the lead to 15-10 with a penalty.

Vagas hit back with a try from Akkie van der Berg and with 10 minutes to go the game was level at 15-15.

Two late penalties from Elliott sealed the game for Winnington Park.
