A TOTAL of 14 junior players represented the Isle of Man in the recent Merseyside County Junior Squash Championships.
And every single one of them won at least one match.
Stars of the Island squad were Hannah Dixon - who returned to the Island as Under 15 Girls Champion - Sidney Batty, runner-up in the Under 11 Boys group, Thom Whiteway, third in the Under 17 Boys section and Mason McLarney who won the Tournament Sportsmanship award.
Other notable performances were Edward Batty (Boys U13) and Liam Quinn (Boys U17) who, by finishing fifth and nineth respectively in their competitions, were the effective Plate winners - after an early loss they won all the rest of their games.
Hannah also competed in the "Boys" U13 and finished a creditable sixth.
Sidney, Edward and Liam all have another year in the same boys age group and Hannah has another two years in hers.
Patrick Fitzpatrick and Hadyn McLarney, who finished 6th and 7th in the Boys U15, have another year in that Group.
Mason won his sportsmanship award by bravely returning to the competition after spending three hours in Alder Hey hospital casualty with a facial injury caused by dangerous play by his opponent.
The Isle of Man Squash Rackets' Association would like to thank the following for their support: Trident Trust for their long-term support for Manx Junior Squash, MSR for their travel and coaching grants and FlyBe for reducing the price of its group air fares.
An association spokesman said without the support of the organisations listed above it would not have been able to take so many players and coaches to the event.
