Island must control its own waters, says MLC

A member of the Legislative Council believes the time has come for the Isle of Man to take full control its territorial waters.

After the Manx queen scallop took the top prize in the 2011 Sustainable Seafood Awards in London, political member with responsibility for fisheries Juan Turner said the award would be a huge boost to the industry.

But he also told Granada Reports that having to get the agreement of other jurisdictions to make decisions concerning the waters around the Island was unsatisfactory:
