Candidate comes forward in Glenfaba

by isleofman.com 29th January 2011

Businessman and air racing champion Geoffrey Boot has signaled his intention to stand in the constituency of Glenfaba in the forthcoming general election.

Mr Boot is making a second attempt to gain the seat, having polled just over 40 per cent of the vote in 2006, in a straight fight with sitting member David Anderson.

He currently scrutinises aviation regulations from an industry perspective, while his business career has covered a wide range of interests, including property, leisure and publishing.

Mr Boot says he is a great believer in sampling electors' opinions, and is currently carrying out a survey of the entire Glenfaba electorate before committing anything to his manifesto.

Mr Boot is 56 and has lived at Ballagarraghyn on the outskirts of St John's for nearly 26 years.

The 2011 general election is on Thursday, September 29, with nominations day on August 30.
