The MHK behind a bill which would outlaw discrimination against breastfeeding in public says he is prepared to look again at the level of fines the proposed legislation would impose.
Juan Watterson's Breastfeeding Bill is progressing through the House of Keys, and while the vast majority of members support it, others feel it is too draconian.
Retired law lecturer Peter Murcott also believes it's a step too far when other 'softer' approaches to encourage more establishments to be 'breastfeeding friendly' haven't yet been tried.
But Mr Watterson says his approach is 'common sense' and those who have problems with nursing mothers deserve to be penalised:
