Holt trial reaches closing stages

The jury in the trial of an Isle of Man advocate charged with money laundering offences is expected to be sent out to consider its verdicts today (Tuesday).

Yesterday, prosecution and defence counsel completed their closing speeches and, from 9.45 this morning, Acting Deemster Turner will sum up the case, before asking the seven-strong jury to retire.

Thirty-year-old Jenny Holt from Union Mills denies handling ?400,000 stolen by former business tycoon Trevor Baines and his wife Wendy.

Miss Holt, from Union Mills, was part of the defence team which represented the couple at their money laundering trial in the autumn of 2009.
