Hitting it out of sight at Peel Golf Club

by isleofman.com 24th January 2011

UNTIL 11 o’clock on Saturday there was a very dense fog over the course and for once in my life I was hitting it out of sight! The greens were also frozen so the early starters experienced the worst of the conditions.

The Jimmy Patrick event - which is normally played on Boxing Day over 14 holes - had been re-scheduled and was played over 18 holes as a medal. In 4th place Graham Moore (21) mastered the early morning gloom with an excellent 65 nett.

Brendan Conroy (7) took third on countback also with a 65. New names were at the top of the leaderboard. Richard Hainge (15) had a fine 64. The winner with a countback 64 was Phil Evans (17). Well done Phil. The best gross went to Mark Curphey with a terrific 67.

A couple of dates for the diary. There will be the annual Mcmillan Care Am-Am on Friday March 4 and the St Patrick’s Day Am-Am on Friday March 18. These are open events and teams with any combination of men or ladies are very welcome.

Anyone wishing to play should e-mail peelgc@manx.net or ring 843456 or simply put your name down on the lists in the clubhouse.
