R-plate drivers admission from minister

by isleofman.com 24th January 2011

Despite plans to bring in a lower drink-drive limit for R-plate drivers in the Isle of Man, no records are kept on how many are caught over the limit.

Home Affairs Minister Adrian Earnshaw made the admission in his reply to a written question in Tynwald, from Rushen MHK Quintin Gill.

A public consultation on whether the legal limit for newly-qualified drivers should be reduced from 80 to 50mg per 100ml of blood ended earlier this month.
