Christian helps team GB to pursuit bronze

by isleofman.com 22nd January 2011

Manx cyclist Mark Christian has helped a youthful Great Britain foursome to the team pursuit bronze medal at the latest round of the UCI Track World Cup in Beijing, China.

The team of Christian, Andy Fenn, Erick Rowsell and Simon Yates easily overcame the Netherlands in the bronze medal race, completing the podium behind Russia and Spain.

Britain had pushed the Russians earlier on, but eventually fell behind the Spanish quartet.

It's a great achievement for what was seen as an experimental British team, after a number of the bigs guns, such as Chris Hoy, stayed at home to prepare for next month's World Cup event in Manchester.
