by isleofman.com 22nd January 2011

A man who said he was going to blow up a government building has admitted a charge of provoking behaviour.

Forty-two-year-old Jonathan Fletcher, of Horseshoe Avenue, Douglas, made the threat a week last Friday, January 14, resulting in police evacuating Hillary House in Douglas while they carried out a search.

No bomb was found.

The prosecution said Fletcher called Noble's Hospital at 3.10pm, asking to speak to his social worker.

When told he was not available Fletcher said he was going to blow the windows in at Hillary House and maim people.

The police were called, they went to Fletcher's house, where they had to make a forced entry as he refused to let them in.

Fletcher has been bailed and the case adjourned until February 18 while social enquiry and psychiatric reports are compiled.
