Cav at the back on penultimate stage

by isleofman.com 22nd January 2011

It was another disappointing day for Mark Cavendish at the Tour Down Under in Australia today.

The 25-year-old was classed as second-to-last on the fifth and penultimate stage from McLaren Vale to Willunga , with only sprint rival Tyler Farrar behind him.

They finished in a small bunch some 14 minutes behind stage winner Francisco Ventoso.

Aussie Cameron Meyer - who dominated the track at the Commonwealth Games last year - is the tour's overall leader.

Cav's HTC-Highroad team mate Matt Goss is second, eight seconds behind Meyer going into tomorrow's final stage.

New Isle of Man resident Ben Swift is in sixth, a further ten seconds back
